ST DAVID'S, NEW ROMNEY, KENT

A large Architect designed property. The site lies in a sensitive position on the outskirts of the settlement boundary of New Romney, with countryside (the Romney Marshes) surrounding the property on three sides. Care was required to ensure the protection and enhancement of the existing landscape/townscape character as part of the proposed mitigation for the building.
The proposals sort to open up a key view to the St Nicholas Church from an adjacent public right of way.

markhantonStudio provided technical support by identifying a realistic package of tree and vegetation removal proposals, mitigation and enhancement measures for replanting, together with an on-going annual regime of management works. A pallet of materials sympathetic to the semi-rural character, were proposed for the driveway and a number of hard landscape features around the site.

Planning approval was successful obtained in November 2011
